Anonymous tip leads to arrest of man wanted for failure to register as sex offender
An anonymous Crime Stoppers tip this week led the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Ricky Allen Arnold on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers said in a Facebook post.
The post said the charge stems from a prior conviction in Indiana. The sheriff’s office took Arnold into custody after receiving the information, the post said, but provided no additional details about the arrest or where Arnold was found.
Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers urged residents to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity. The group encouraged people to contact their local law enforcement agency directly or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers, saying many investigations begin with a single concerned citizen’s report.
Sex offender registration laws generally require people convicted of certain sexual offenses to notify authorities of their residence and other information. Community tips can help locate wanted fugitives, solve crimes or prevent additional victims, Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
