Vicksburg police host human sex trafficking training
VICKSBURG, Mississippi — The Vicksburg Police Department recently hosted a three-day Human Sex Trafficking Workshop that brought law enforcement personnel from agencies across Mississippi together for specialized training, the department said. The training was facilitated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
Officials said the workshop covered recognizing indicators of trafficking, victim-centered investigative approaches, intelligence gathering, evidence collection and collaborative strategies to support victims and hold offenders accountable.
Vicksburg Police Chief Larry Burns said the training strengthens the ability of agencies to protect vulnerable individuals and pursue those responsible for these crimes. “The fight against human trafficking requires education, awareness, and strong partnerships,” Burns said.
Human trafficking remains a significant concern nationwide and often occurs in ways that are difficult to detect, officials said. The Vicksburg Police Department said it remains committed to professional development and interagency partnerships to enhance public safety.
