Gulfport Police Department welcomes two new officers
Gulfport Police Department announced on its Facebook page that Officers Asa Stewart and Lexia Slack have officially begun their careers with the department, taking an oath to serve and protect the Gulfport community.
The department praised their dedication, integrity and willingness to answer the call of public service, saying those qualities reflect the values it strives to uphold every day.
Sworn police officers typically assume responsibilities that include enforcing laws, responding to emergencies and engaging with residents to promote public safety. New officers generally complete academy training and field training before taking full patrol duties.
The department said it is proud to welcome Stewart and Slack to the Gulfport Police Department family and looks forward to seeing them grow as officers and make a positive impact on the community for years to come.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
