Old National Guard Armory opens for Tropical Storm Arthur relief donations
The Old National Guard Armory on the State Fairgrounds in Jackson opens Saturday to collect donations for people affected by Tropical Storm Arthur and related flooding, Andy Gipson said in a Facebook post.
The armory will accept donations Saturday until 4 p.m. and again Monday, June 22, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Gipson said. All donations will be transported to affected areas as soon as those areas are passable.
Officials asked donors to provide flood cleanup items including buckets, bleach, rags, paper towels and mops. Local churches are invited to coordinate collections and deliver supplies to the armory to support relief efforts.
The State Fairgrounds address is 1207 Mississippi Street, Jackson, Mississippi 39202. Gipson thanked Mississippians for helping South Mississippi neighbors in need. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
