Jackson police, council president attend Will-o-Wood cookout

The Jackson Police Department said on Facebook that the Will-o-Wood community held a meet-and-greet cookout recently at the Peggy Calhoun Community Center.

The post said Precinct One officers attended the event along with City Council President Brian Grizzlell. The department did not provide additional details in the post.

The Jackson Police Department is the municipal agency responsible for public safety in the city. Community centers like the Peggy Calhoun facility commonly host neighborhood events designed to bring residents together and provide space for local gatherings.

Meet-and-greet cookouts give residents opportunities to meet officers and local officials in informal settings, which public safety experts say can help build trust and open lines of communication between communities and law enforcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
