Ocean Springs police seek man in alleged embezzlement
Ocean Springs police are seeking Joshua “Josh” Sumrall in connection with a felony embezzlement investigation, the department said in a Facebook post Monday. The post, listed as case 26-041447, says Sumrall is wanted for alleged embezzlement of money from a former employer and that his last known address was in Vancleave.
The department said Sumrall knows he is wanted and urged him to turn himself in to the Ocean Springs Police Department. Police asked anyone who knows his location to contact Crime Stoppers if he does not surrender.
Embezzlement is generally defined as the misappropriation or theft of funds entrusted to someone by an employer. Felony embezzlement is a serious charge that can carry significant criminal penalties if the person is convicted, and cases are typically pursued by law enforcement and prosecutors in the jurisdiction where the alleged conduct occurred.
Officials encouraged use of the P3 Tips app or Crime Stoppers’ tip line to report information. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
