Mississippi law enforcement urges drivers to watch for motorcyclists, bicyclists

Mississippi law enforcement reminded drivers in a Facebook post that they share the road with motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians and urged motorists to give them space, respect their movement and use extra caution in low-visibility conditions.

The message was posted under the heading “Safety Tip Tuesday,” a common format many agencies use on social media to provide regular traffic-safety reminders. The post emphasized awareness and caution, noting that small acts by drivers can help keep all road users safer.

Road users who are on two wheels or on foot are more vulnerable in collisions, and law enforcement agencies routinely encourage drivers to slow down, check blind spots before turning or changing lanes and allow extra following distance. Drivers are also advised to be especially careful at dawn, dusk and during inclement weather when visibility is reduced.

The post included the hashtags #Mississippi, #lawenforcement and #drivesafe to reach a broader audience. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
