Mississippi issues Silver Alert for missing Jackson man

JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has issued a Silver Alert for a 63-year-old Jackson man who was reported missing Sunday evening, authorities said.

Investigators said Charles Dana Kirkland Jr. was last seen May 3 at about 5:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Hayes Drive in Hinds County. He was walking east when last seen and was wearing a gray hoodie, gray sweatpants and white shoes.

Kirkland is described as 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. Family members told authorities Kirkland suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said.

Silver Alerts are used to help locate missing older adults and others with cognitive impairments by quickly notifying the public. Anyone who sees Kirkland is asked to call the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 or dial 911. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
