The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that Sheriff Johnson received an award from the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s Litter Removal Program.
The MDOT program partners with local agencies, volunteer groups and work programs to remove litter from state roadways and improve the appearance of communities across Mississippi. State transportation departments run similar programs nationwide to reduce roadside debris and promote public safety.
The sheriff’s office said MDOT presented the award “for his alliance in helping to keep Mississippi beautiful and building community pride while promoting a positive image of this great state.” The post also said the office is proud of the work Lt. Herbert and the State County Inmate work program do to help keep Lee County clean and beautiful.
