Pike County sheriff continues litter campaign on I-55 south

Pike County Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones is continuing a countywide litter campaign in 2026, removing trash along Interstate 55 South and other highways and roads in Pike County, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

The office said the effort reflects a commitment to keeping the county “clean, safe, and beautiful.” It thanked the Mississippi Department of Transportation, known as MDOT, and Commissioner Charles Busby for donating a cleanup truck to support the campaign.

Correctional Officer Kim Wallace and inmates led the most recent cleanup effort, the sheriff’s office said. The post also acknowledged community partners including the McComb Rotary Club and Victor’s Tint & Graphics for providing decals.

Pike County is in southwestern Mississippi, and state and local agencies often work with community groups on roadside cleanup to improve safety and appearance of public roadways. The sheriff’s office described the initiative as part of its broader public service mission.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
