Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers marks 40th anniversary

Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers on Thursday marked its 40th anniversary and thanked local television partner WLOX-TV for long-standing support, the organization said in a Facebook post.

The post said the group has collected as many as 15,000 tips since its 1986 founding and thanked WLOX-TV, saying, “You’ve been there since the beginning.”

Crime Stoppers programs typically offer a way for community members to provide anonymous tips to law enforcement and work with media partners to publicize unsolved cases and solicit information. Local chapters aim to improve public safety by encouraging community involvement and offering rewards in some cases.

The milestone underscores the role of sustained community and media partnerships in encouraging tip submissions and aiding investigations. Details about anniversary events or plans were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
