Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers celebrate 40 years
Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers celebrated a major milestone Wednesday, the organization said in a Facebook post, marking 40 years of partnership with law enforcement, the media and the community across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The group hosted a luncheon to reflect on its work, the post said, and thanked local television station WXXV 25 for its continued partnership. The organization said the collaboration has helped solve crimes and improve public safety in the region.
Crime Stoppers programs are community-based efforts that typically encourage anonymous tips from the public and work with police and news outlets to generate leads and, in many cases, offer rewards for information. Local Crime Stoppers groups often serve as a bridge between residents and law enforcement, especially in neighborhoods where trust and communication can affect investigations.
The 40-year anniversary highlights long-term cooperation among residents, media and police on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and underscores the role community reporting can play in public safety. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
