Lowndes County sheriff’s office honors correctional officer for criminal justice degree
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing Correctional Officer Cpl. Angle Marks after she completed a degree in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University, the office said on its Facebook page.
The sheriff’s office praised Marks for balancing continuing education with her duties serving the citizens of Lowndes County, saying her achievement demonstrates commitment to professional growth, leadership and the law enforcement profession.
Jackson State University is a historically Black public university located in Jackson, Mississippi, that offers undergraduate and graduate programs in criminal justice and related fields. Higher education is commonly encouraged in law enforcement as a way to deepen legal knowledge, improve leadership skills and expand career opportunities.
Correctional officers perform daily supervision and custody of people in local jails and detention facilities; agencies often highlight staff educational milestones to show investment in professional development and community safety.
