Lowndes County announces three new reserve deputies
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page that it celebrated the graduation of its Reserve Deputy Academy on Friday, July 31, at 6 p.m.
Judge Jim Kitchens of the 16th District Circuit Court administered the oath of office to the three new reserve deputy sheriffs: Noah Chism, Andrew Bowles and Colton Robinson, the sheriff’s office said.
The graduates completed 307 hours of training over the past six months, the post said. The academy met several nights each week and every other Saturday, requiring cadets to balance training with careers and family responsibilities. Instruction included firearms training, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, Constitutional law, Mississippi state statutes and other subjects the office said are essential to law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office said the Reserve Deputy Program is made up of volunteers who support the agency’s mission and help protect the community. The office said the next Reserve Deputy Academy begins this fall and is accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in serving Lowndes County.
