Lee County sheriff signs ESGR statement, receives flag
LEE COUNTY, Mississippi — Lee County Sheriff Jim H. Johnson signed an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Statement of Support and received a flag in recognition of the agency’s commitment to service members, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
Sheriff Johnson was joined by W.O. Jones, Bill Allen and Bill Baughn during the ceremony, the post said. Bill Allen presented the flag as Johnson signed the ESGR statement, reaffirming the sheriff’s office commitment to supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Defense Department program, promotes cooperation and understanding between civilian employers and Reserve component service members. The Statement of Support is a voluntary acknowledgement from employers that they will accommodate service obligations, the program says.
The sheriff’s office said it is proud to stand behind those who answer the call to serve both their communities and the nation and thanked ESGR for the recognition. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
