Lee County deputies attend firearms training at North Mississippi center

Lee County deputies attended one of three firearms training sessions this week at the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Center, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

The post said training and honing officer skills is essential to safety and survival, and the department thanked NMLEOTC for use of its facility. The sheriff’s office also expressed appreciation for its own firearm instructors, saying they ensured all participants successfully qualified.

Firearms qualification and regular training help officers maintain proficiency, judgment and safety when responding to incidents, law enforcement experts say. The North Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Center serves as a regional training site used by multiple agencies for skills development, certification and scenario-based exercises.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Lee County, Mississippi, responsible for patrol, investigations and detentions. The department asked the community to keep deputies in their thoughts and prayers as they carry out daily duties to protect public safety and quality of life. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
