JPD said Thursday that 61-year-old Gregory Carr was arrested for allegedly burglarizing Martins Furniture Store on the 3100 block of Medgar Evers Blvd.
The department provided no further details about the circumstances of the alleged break-in, damage or any property taken. The arrest was described as an allegation; Carr has not been convicted in connection with the incident.
Martins Furniture is a retail business that serves local residents, and burglaries of commercial properties can disrupt small businesses and community services. Burglary is generally treated as a serious property crime, and investigators typically collect evidence, review video and interview witnesses as part of building a case for prosecutors.
