Jackson police seize drugs, guns after yearlong investigation

After a yearlong investigation in west Jackson, the Jackson Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Division executed search warrants with assistance from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the department said in a Facebook post.

Police said they recovered 2 1/2 kilos of powder cocaine; 58 grams of marijuana; 30 grams of methamphetamine; two gallons of promethazine with codeine; 50 grams of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy; three handguns; an AR-15 rifle; an assault semiautomatic 12-gauge shotgun; and $2,215 in cash.

The Vice and Narcotics Division conducts investigations into illegal drug distribution and related criminal activity. The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics often assists local agencies on operations that target trafficking and large-scale distribution, officials say. Seizures of drugs and firearms can reduce supply on local streets and are frequently part of broader efforts to combat violence and addiction.
