Jackson police invite older teens to Tuesday Talks at Precinct 2
Lieutenant Christian Vance of the Jackson Police Department invited older teens to attend “Tuesday Talks” at Precinct 2, the department said in a Facebook post.
The post gave the name of the program but did not include additional details about topics, times or dates.
The Jackson Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency that patrols and provides public safety services in the city. The department operates multiple precincts to organize patrols and community outreach, and programs with names such as “Tuesday Talks” are often used to engage residents and specific age groups.
Events aimed at older teens are commonly intended to build relationships between young people and officers, share safety information and open lines of communication, community policing experts say. Outreach to youth can play a role in preventing crime and improving trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
The department posted the invitation on its Facebook page. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
