Church brings gifts, refreshments to Jackson Police Precinct 1

The Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post that Turning Point Mission Center Church visited Precinct 1 to deliver refreshments, thoughtful gifts and words of encouragement to its first responders.

The department thanked Pastor Arnetta Owens, Elder Jackie Surrell, Elder Monica Surrell and members of the church at 1814 Shady Lane Drive for the visit and their support, saying the gesture reminded officers that their work is seen and appreciated by the community they serve.

Community outreach from houses of worship and local organizations is a common way residents show support for police and emergency personnel, offering morale boosts and fostering relationships between agencies and neighborhoods.

The Jackson Police Department said it feels honored and humbled by the church’s generosity and expressed appreciation for the kindness shown to the men and women of Precinct 1.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
