Iuka man sentenced to 15 years for identity theft
IUKA, Miss. (Aug. 24, 2026) — Circuit Court Judge Kelly Mims sentenced David Jerome Peek, 45, to 30 years in prison with 15 years suspended and 15 years to serve in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by five years of post-release supervision, the District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Peek pleaded guilty to two counts of identity theft for using stolen bank account information to purchase a vehicle and other items, the office said. Assistant District Attorney Clay Cummings prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
The Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with lead investigator Jamie Reynolds, the District Attorney’s Office said. District Attorney Jason D. Herring said the office commends local law enforcement for protecting the privacy and sanctity of victims’ personal information.
Identity theft involves the unauthorized use of another person’s personal information to obtain credit, goods or services and is often prosecuted to deter financial crimes, legal experts say. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
