Hinds County Sheriff’s Office celebrates citizens academy graduation

Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that it celebrated the graduation of participants in its third annual Sheriff’s Citizens Academy last night.

The post said the weeklong program included hands-on demonstrations, interactive learning and open conversations designed to give residents a deeper look at the daily work deputies and staff perform. It said the graduation highlighted participants’ dedication, curiosity and community spirit.

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Hinds County, Mississippi, which includes the state capital of Jackson. Citizens academies are commonly used by law enforcement agencies to build relationships with residents, explain procedures and increase transparency between agencies and the communities they serve.

The Facebook post also looked ahead to a “successful 2026 academy” and credited Jay D. Johnson for the photos. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
