Hattiesburg police investigate workplace death on Hardy Street

Hattiesburg Police responded to a workplace accident in the 3000 block of Hardy Street at approximately 10:46 a.m. Aug. 17, 2026, the Hattiesburg Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Paramedics were already on scene providing aid when officers arrived, the department said. The individual was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, officials said.

The Hattiesburg Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Hattiesburg, a city in southeastern Mississippi. Local police typically secure scenes, interview witnesses and gather evidence in workplace incidents while coordinating with other agencies as needed.

Workplace accidents that result in serious injury or death may prompt review by state and federal occupational safety authorities in addition to local investigators, depending on the circumstances. The department said no additional information is available at this time.
