Authorities investigate death behind Bullard Street gas station

Precinct 3 officers responded to a death at about 8:07 p.m. July 8 at a gas station in the 4500 block of Bullard Street in Hinds County, Mississippi, local law enforcement said.

Officers found an unknown Black male lying in a grassy area behind the business after an individual performing lawn maintenance discovered the body, authorities said. The scene was secured and investigators were notified.

Robbery-homicide detectives, a mobile crime investigator and the Hinds County coroner responded to the scene, according to the post. In death investigations, homicide detectives typically handle the criminal inquiry while a coroner examines the body and determines preliminary information about cause and manner of death.

The deceased’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, and the manner and cause of death remain under investigation, officials said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
