Hattiesburg police extradite suspect on attempted capital murder charge

The Hattiesburg Police Department said it has extradited a suspect back to Hattiesburg to face an attempted capital murder charge stemming from an investigation that began May 6, 2026.

Aliseit Rakiposki, 44, was returned after being apprehended in Connecticut and is currently in the custody of the Hattiesburg Police Department, the department said in a Facebook post.

The investigation began after officers responded to the 1500 block of Country Club Road, where investigators determined Rakiposki allegedly stabbed a victim multiple times, the department said.

Investigators worked with law enforcement partners to locate Rakiposki following the incident. He was taken into custody in Connecticut and subsequently extradited to Hattiesburg to face the attempted capital murder charge, the post said.

Hattiesburg is in south Mississippi and the Hattiesburg Police Department handles criminal investigations and coordinates with other agencies on interstate apprehensions and extraditions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
