Graduation season increases traffic near Landers Center
Graduation season is underway and the Landers Center warned of heavier traffic in and around the arena over the next two weeks.
The venue, in a post on its Facebook page, listed expected heavy traffic times: May 14 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; May 19 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; May 20 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; May 21 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; May 22 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; May 23 from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and May 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Landers Center is a multi-purpose arena that commonly hosts graduations, concerts and sporting events. Increased traffic for commencement ceremonies can affect commuters, local businesses and families attending ceremonies, leading to congestion on nearby streets and longer travel times to and from the site.
Officials and the venue encouraged drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider carpooling or shared drop-offs to reduce congestion. The Landers Center also congratulated graduates and families celebrating these milestones. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
