Deputy Chief, Lt. brief media on city’s ninth homicide

Deputy Chief Marco Johnson and Lt. Dejon Arterberry spoke to reporters this morning about the city’s ninth homicide, which occurred in the 600 block of Lake Glen Drive, officials said.

Johnson and Arterberry addressed the media at a brief news conference, providing preliminary information and saying investigators are working at the scene. They did not release additional details about the victim or any possible suspects, and they described the investigation as ongoing, officials said.

The police department is responsible for investigating violent crime and homicide cases. Homicide investigations typically involve processing the scene, collecting forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses as detectives work to establish a timeline and identify suspects. The fact that this is the city’s ninth homicide underscores concerns about public safety and will likely draw additional law enforcement resources.

Officials did not immediately provide further details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
