Cadet Class 70 completes ninth week of Mississippi training

Cadet Class No. 70 in Mississippi completed its ninth week of training this week, according to a Facebook reel posted by the program. The post said cadets focused on boxing, DUI investigations and safe handling of roadside altercations as part of their ongoing curriculum.

The session covered defensive tactics such as boxing, which training programs often use to teach control, balance and hand-to-hand skills. In-class instruction on DUI investigations typically teaches legal procedures, field sobriety testing and evidence documentation used during impaired-driving stops.

Roadside-altercation training emphasizes officer and public safety during traffic stops and confrontations, and is a common component of basic law enforcement training. Such instruction aims to reduce injuries, improve decision-making and prepare recruits for the variety of situations officers face on the street.

Cadet classes are a key step toward certification and earning a badge for aspiring officers, combining classroom work with practical exercises. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
