Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers said on its Facebook page that people can call 601-355-TIPS (8477) or 1-866-481-8477 to anonymously submit information related to a crime.
Crime Stoppers programs typically provide a confidential channel for community members to share information with law enforcement without identifying themselves. The organization partners with local agencies, media and volunteers to encourage tips that can lead to arrests and help solve cases.
Anonymous tip lines can be significant in communities where witnesses fear retaliation or are otherwise reluctant to come forward. Information from callers can give investigators leads on suspects, locations and events that might not surface through other means.
