Booneville sixth-graders celebrate D.A.R.E. graduation

Booneville sixth-graders celebrated completion of the D.A.R.E. program with a graduation ceremony last Thursday, the Booneville Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Fire Inspector Jerius Maxey opened the ceremony with a prayer, and Sgt. Josh Walden and Officer Jonathan Timbes presented certificates, the post said. Several students received recognition for outstanding posters that showcased what they learned during the class. Mayor Lori Tucker encouraged students to make safe, smart and responsible choices and to be leaders in their community, the post said.

After the formal graduation, students attended a celebration at Skaterz skating rink, according to the post. The department thanked local businesses and organizations that helped put on the event, including Langston and Lott; Daniel Tucker Law; Morgan Movers LLC; Travis Childer’s Realty; Greg Beard Law Office; Walmart; Little Caesars Pizza; and Booneville Church of Christ.
