Mississippi interdiction unit seizes 376 pounds of meth on I-22
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Interdiction Unit seized about 376 pounds of methamphetamine, 82 pounds of marijuana and 2 kilograms of powder cocaine during a routine commercial vehicle inspection on Interstate 22 in Pontotoc County, the agency said.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Ramar A. Lloyd of McDonough, Georgia, was arrested at the scene and taken to the Pontotoc County Detention Center, the department said in a Facebook post. Lloyd faces two counts of aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance and one count of trafficking of a controlled substance.
Commissioner Sean Tindell said the seizure reflects proactive work by law enforcement. “Mississippi law enforcement remains committed to aggressively targeting drug trafficking operations that threaten the safety of our communities,” Tindell said in the post. He added that dangerous drugs like methamphetamine and cocaine “destroy lives, fuel violent crime, and have no place in our state.”
The Interdiction Unit conducts commercial vehicle inspections aimed at disrupting trafficking on state highways. Officials did not provide additional investigative details. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
