Biloxi Police swear in six new officers
The Biloxi Police Department swore in six new officers at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center, the department said in a Facebook post. The recruits took the oath to “protect and serve” the Biloxi community as they begin their careers with the department.
The department thanked the new officers for answering the call to public service and wished them success as they join Biloxi police ranks, according to the post. The ceremony marks their formal entry into law enforcement duties with the city.
The Biloxi Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city of Biloxi, Mississippi, responsible for patrol, investigations, traffic safety and community policing. Swearing-in ceremonies typically follow completion of required training at a police academy and often celebrate the transition from training to active duty.
The addition of new officers can affect patrol coverage, response times and community outreach, officials say, and the recruits will undertake department assignments and continuing training as they settle into their roles. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
