Hancock County seeks James Hoyt for failing to register as sex offender
Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help locate James Randall Hoyt, who is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender, the agency said. The case is listed as H202600768.
Hoyt is 38 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 220 pounds, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities did not provide additional information about his last known location or the original conviction in the agency’s notice.
Failure to register as a sex offender is a criminal violation in most jurisdictions that generally requires people convicted of certain sexual offenses to periodically notify law enforcement of their residence and other identifying information. Law enforcement agencies say locating individuals who do not comply with registration laws is important for community safety and to ensure compliance with court-ordered requirements.
The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers by downloading the P3 Tips app or by calling TIPS. To qualify for a reward, the office said, information must be submitted directly through Crime Stoppers.
Details remain limited. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
