UMMC establishes endowed lectureship to honor Michael Jabaley
The University of Mississippi Medical Center has established a new endowed lectureship to honor Dr. Michael Jabaley, a pioneer in hand surgery whose work shaped care in Mississippi and beyond, the center said in a news release.
The release says the lectureship will bring world-class experts to UMMC to help train the next generation of surgeons and to advance clinical practice in hand surgery.
UMMC is the state’s academic medical center and serves as a hub for clinical care, research and professional education. Endowed lectureships typically provide sustained support to bring visiting clinicians and scholars for lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training, reinforcing continuing medical education and specialty services.
The new lectureship recognizes Jabaley’s contributions to the specialty and aims to strengthen surgical training and patient care at the center and in the region, UMMC said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
