Mobility technicians at the University of Mississippi Medical Center help patients move again as part of their recovery, focusing on more than simply taking a few steps.
Their work is aimed at helping patients regain strength, confidence and independence throughout the recovery process. UMMC is highlighting the team and what makes its role in patient care rewarding.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
