Trustmark gift helps UMMC advance new cancer center

Trustmark has made a major gift that is helping the University of Mississippi Medical Center move closer to building a new cancer care and research facility to serve patients across Mississippi, UMMC said.

The investment, UMMC said, is intended to support expanded access to advanced treatment and to bolster research capacity. UMMC is the state’s only academic medical center and houses clinical care, medical education and biomedical research programs.

Trustmark is a Mississippi-based financial services company that has provided philanthropic support to local institutions in the past. Expanded cancer care and research capacity could broaden treatment options and clinical trials for patients who now must travel long distances for specialized care.

Details about the project, including timeline and scope, were not included in the initial announcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
