Mississippi health department marks World Patient Safety Day

The Mississippi State Department of Health marked World Patient Safety Day by emphasizing communication, teamwork and patient involvement in delivering safe, quality health care.

The department said patients can contribute to their safety by asking questions, sharing their health history and medications, raising concerns and making sure they understand their care plan. Health care professionals also work to create safer systems and prevent avoidable harm, it said.
