UMMC spotlights teamwork during Patient Safety Week
The University of Mississippi Medical Center is highlighting the role of teamwork in patient safety during its Patient Safety Week, the medical center said. The observance will emphasize achievements, improvements and a culture of safety that the center says strengthens care across the institution while recognizing employees who contribute to that work.
UMMC, the state’s major academic health center based in Jackson, provides patient care, research and clinical education. The medical center said Patient Safety Week offers an opportunity to showcase initiatives that involve clinicians, support staff and hospital leaders working together to reduce harm and improve outcomes.
Patient safety experts say collaboration across all levels of a hospital — from frontline caregivers to administrators — is central to preventing errors, improving communication and sustaining safety improvements. Efforts commonly include training, standardized protocols and systems for reporting and learning from incidents.
UMMC posted a preview of Patient Safety Week on its website. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
