Front-desk staff ease patients’ first moments at UMMC CCRI

Before patients meet their care team or hear a treatment plan at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, they often meet someone who helps them feel at ease.

UMMC said in a social media post that Marlene Rios plays that role at CCRI, helping shape a smoother check-in experience and providing a more supportive first stop for patients.

Patient reception and check-in staff serve as many patients’ first point of contact in health systems, and their interactions can influence how patients perceive care, follow treatment recommendations and navigate appointments. Hospitals and clinics increasingly emphasize the importance of front-line staff in reducing anxiety, improving patient satisfaction and connecting people with the right services.

UMMC posted a link to a longer profile on its website about Rios and her work with CCRI. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
