Tracy Moser marks nearly four decades leading Blue Mountain Christian BSU

Tracy Moser has served as director of the Baptist Student Union at Blue Mountain Christian University since joining the university in 1987, guiding students in discipleship, service and missions.

Moser earned an associate degree from Jones County Junior College in 1981, a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1983 and a master’s degree in religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987. Before entering collegiate ministry, she taught elementary music in the Laurel City School District.

Her involvement in student ministry began at Jones County Junior College through New Light, a traveling music ministry that visited area churches. She later served as a summer youth minister and summer missionary in Grand Canyon, Arizona.

At Blue Mountain Christian, Moser coordinated and led approximately 73 mission efforts in the United States and internationally. Student mission opportunities included Brazil, Panama, Africa, Kyrgyzstan, China, Taiwan and Mexico, as well as projects in states including Mississippi, Texas, California, New York and Florida.

Since 1987, 410 Blue Mountain Christian students have been appointed as summer missionaries. Moser also served multiple times with the BSU State Missions Committee, which selects and sends summer missionaries.

The university’s BSU received the Courts Redford Award for Excellence in Student Missionary Deployment from the North American Mission Board in 2006 and 2010.

“Tracy’s impact cannot be measured simply in years of service,” said President Dr. Barbara C. McMillin, “but in the countless lives she has shaped—students she has encouraged, mentored, discipled, and prepared to serve Christ wherever He might lead them.”
