Six cowboys and cowgirls from the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rodeo Team are scheduled to compete in seven events Saturday night at the UWA Showdown Rodeo in Livingston, Alabama.
The rodeo will be held at the Hines-Spree Rodeo Complex, with the event scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The team is returning after what it described as a bounce-back from its opening rodeo.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
