Southaven police announce graduates of crisis intervention training program

The Southaven Police Department announced graduates of its Crisis Intervention Team program, describing the training as a resource for its officers and personnel from other area agencies.

The department said its partnership with Region IV and Catherine Davis provides the training. The program equips first responders with knowledge and skills to respond safely to people experiencing a mental health crisis.

The class covers de-escalation techniques, communication strategies, suicide intervention, and ways to connect people with appropriate resources and treatment, according to the department.
