Northeast Mississippi student completes CNA training and earns HSE

Bethann “Hope” Durham completed Certified Nursing Assistant training and earned her High School Equivalency in February 2026 after enrolling in Adult Education at Northeast Mississippi Community College and later joining the MIBEST program.

Durham enrolled in Adult Education in September 2025 while continuing to work. During the program, she earned the Smart Start Credential.

In January 2026, she entered MIBEST’s CNA pathway while continuing to work toward her HSE. She was dual-enrolled in Adult Education classes while completing CNA training, allowing her to pursue both credentials at the same time.

MIBEST covered her CNA tuition and provided supplies, including scrubs, a stethoscope and a blood pressure cuff.

Durham credited Amanda Janes, the MIBEST College & Career Navigator, and said the program has been a “true blessing” in her life.

She plans to enroll in a phlebotomy pathway and attend Northeast Mississippi Community College in the fall to pursue a nursing degree.
