East Union, Myrtle Cyber Foundation programs receive $10,000 in grants

East Union and Myrtle’s Cyber Foundation programs received a combined $10,000 in grants from New Albany Light, Gas and Water in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Each school received $5,000.

The funds will support student learning in areas including creating and printing 3D models and using coding platforms. East Union coding instructor Stephanie Scott said the broad subject exposes students to technology jobs they may not have known existed and could pursue in high school or college.

Scott plans to use the funds in part to update technology and give students access to resources for 3D modeling and coding programs.

Martha Swindle of the Tennessee Valley Authority said the agency’s mission is to serve people in the Valley and reach out to community needs. Union County School District Superintendent Windy Faulkner said connections between local schools and businesses are essential to investing in student learning and workforce growth.
