Angie Skelton’s faith and service shape role at Blue Mountain Christian University

Dr. Angie Skelton serves as associate professor of business, MBA program coordinator and dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies at Blue Mountain Christian University. Since joining the university in 2011, she has taught marketing, finance, management and supply chain management courses.

Her work at the Mississippi university is closely tied to her Christian faith. “I was saved when I was eight years old,” Skelton said. She said that foundation has shaped her life and her approach to education.

Skelton also serves at Belden Baptist Church, where she co-teaches a girls’ youth Sunday School class. For the past five summers, she has been the sole female chaperone for Mississippi Super Summer, helping guide students during a week focused on spiritual growth and leadership development.

Her service has included an international mission trip to Antigua, where she helped construct a church sanctuary, visited elderly and sick residents, and worked with local believers. She also has participated in hurricane-related disaster relief near Galveston, served churches in Kentucky, assisted with Vacation Bible Schools and Backyard Bible Clubs, and supported community outreach projects.

Skelton said Christian higher education gives her opportunities to integrate faith into her work, including sharing Scripture, praying with and for students, writing devotional content for online classes and helping students apply biblical truth to personal and professional decisions. She described seeing students grow in their relationship with Christ as one of the greatest blessings of her work.

BMCU President Dr. Barbara McMillin said Skelton “models faith, integrity, servant leadership, and academic excellence in everything she does.” Skelton and her husband, Robert, have been married for 27 years and have two daughters, Chloe and Mia.
