Accelerate MS opens Workforce Pell applications, Reeves says
Accelerate MS will begin accepting applications for Workforce Pell Grants starting tomorrow, a Facebook post from Tate Reeves said.
The post said the state’s workforce strategy has helped attract record-breaking private capital investment and trained thousands for jobs projected over the next 50 years. It said the Workforce Pell program will build on that work and better prepare Mississippians for high-skill, high-wage and in-demand careers.
Accelerate MS is a statewide initiative aimed at expanding workforce training and aligning education with employer needs. Workforce-focused grant programs generally seek to lower financial barriers for people pursuing short-term certificates, apprenticeships or other training tied to local labor market demand.
Officials and economic development authorities often promote such programs as tools to fill skills gaps, attract private investment and help workers move into better-paying jobs. Specific details about eligibility, application requirements and program funding were not included in the post.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
