Tupelo man charged with aggravated assault in connection with 2025 attack

Tupelo police arrested William H. McCord, 32, on Dec. 22 on charges related to a September assault at the Super 8 Motel on McCullough Boulevard, authorities said.

The victim reported that the suspect, a known individual, punched, kicked, and choked her twice, causing her to lose consciousness, police said. The assault occurred on Sept. 3, according to reports.

After an investigation, police charged McCord with one count of aggravated assault. Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered him held on a $10,000 bond and issued a no-contact order with the victim. The case will be presented to the Lee County grand jury, officials said.
