Jackson standoff ends peacefully after 13 hours; three children rescued

A 13-hour standoff in Jackson ended peacefully after three children were rescued and an armed suspect was taken into custody, according to the Jackson Police Department.

Police identified the suspect as Christopher Walker, 44, also known as “Smiley”. The children’s biological father had barricaded himself inside his ex-wife’s home with the children, police said. His ex-wife was not at the home when the incident began, but later came to the scene and supported police efforts to free the children and persuade Walker to surrender.
