The Starkville Police Department is offering free Autism Awareness stickers designed for display on the rear windows of vehicles. The stickers are available for pickup at the department, 101 E Lampkin St., Starkville, Mississippi 39759.
The department said the stickers alert officers and other first responders that someone in a vehicle may have autism and may communicate, respond or react differently, especially during stressful situations. The alert may help prevent misunderstandings, encourage patience and understanding, and support safer, more effective communication during traffic stops and other interactions.
