The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and expressing support for survivors, people fighting the disease and their families across Hinds County.
The office said it honors those who have died, supports those still in the fight and encourages community members to prioritize early detection and regular screenings.

A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
